Overview

The Teltonika RUT956 is an industrial cellular router that combines 4G LTE Cat 4, Wi-Fi, wired Ethernet and GNSS location in one rugged aluminium unit. Dual SIM with automatic failover keeps you online, while RS232 and RS485 serial ports, multiple inputs/outputs and a USB port let you connect and control industrial equipment, meters and sensors.

  • Dual SIM with auto failover: Switches to the second SIM on weak signal, data limit, roaming or no network. eSIM support depends on order code.
  • Wi-Fi 4 (802.11b/g/n): Access point or client mode, up to 100 simultaneous users, WPA3 security.
  • 4 Ethernet ports: 1 × WAN + 3 × LAN, 10/100 Mbps.
  • GNSS location: GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS for tracking, geofencing and time sync.
  • RS232 & RS485 serial: Connect PLCs, meters and controllers. Supports Modbus RTU/TCP gateway, Serial over IP and more.
  • Inputs and outputs: Digital, isolated and analog (4–20 mA) inputs, open collector outputs and a relay output for automation and alarms.
  • USB 2.0 port + microSD slot: Add external storage, a USB-serial adapter or another modem.
  • Industrial protocols and VPN: Modbus, MQTT, OPC UA, DNP3, DLMS, BACnet; OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard, ZeroTier and more.
  • Remote management: Works with Teltonika RMS to monitor and update routers from anywhere.

Does the RUT956 have Wi-Fi?
Yes. It has 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 4 (802.11b/g/n) for up to 100 users.

Can it track location?
Yes. The built-in GNSS receiver supports GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS. A GNSS antenna is needed.

What serial ports does it have?
One RS232 (DB9) port and one RS485 port, both usable as a Modbus gateway.

Can I use two SIM cards?
Yes. It has two SIM slots and switches automatically if the main connection fails.
